Shafaq News/ The President of Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, stressed on Thursday that the region still needs US support.
A statement of the presidency reported to Shafaq News agency, that Barzani hosted Robert Waller, the new US Consulate in the Region of Kurdistan.
The statement added that the meeting was also attended by the former American Consulate and an accompanying delegation. The president congratulated the new consulate and wished him success in his duties.
For his part, the consulate affirmed his country's commitment to maintaining the stability of Iraq and Kurdistan Region and highlighted the role of Kurdistan and Iraq, stressing his country's support for efforts to solve problems and overcome crises in Iraq and Kurdistan.
For his part, the former consulate expressed his gratitude and appreciation, stressing that he will continue from his new position to work on enhancing joint work and partnership with Iraq and Kurdistan Region.
Barzani said that Kurdistan Region will work with the Iraqi federal government to achieve stability and solve problems based on the constitution, according to the statement.
The statement continued that the two sides asserted on strengthening the relations between the Region and US, cooperation, and work with the international coalition against ISIS. US pledged to continue support for Kurdistan Region, as it recognizes the region's role in the stability of Iraq and the region, as well as protecting coexistence and tolerance between the components.
