Shafaq News/ The Minister of Electricity of Kurdistan Regional Government , Kamal Mohammed Saleh announced on Monday the intention of his ministry to raise the production capacity of electricity by the end of this year.

Saleh said in a joint press conference with Governor of Erbil ,Firsat Sofi today during the opening of a new generating station in the capital that the capacity of producing electricity in Kurdistan region is 7000 MW and what is actually processed 3500 MW.

He explained that "what prevented from utilizing the full energy is fuel, and we are currently coordinating with the Ministry of Natural Resources in this context and by the end of this year there will be good news about the increase in the rate of gas stations."

He attributed the stoppage of some stations to power production to the lack of fuel, saying that "with the support of the Prime Minister of region ,Masrour Barzani and the government of Kurdistan, we will restart them."
