Shafaq News / Sulaymaniyah Health Department expressed concern about the increase in cases of Corona virus in the province, while indicated that its proposal of imposing curfew on the days of Eid was rejected, expecting an increase in the cases in the coming days.
“After the increasing registration of cases, we proposed on the cell combating Corona to announce a curfew at least on the days of the Eid, but the cell rejected the proposal,” adding that “ we are certain that cases will increase in the coming days ,” Dr. Hersh Syed Saleem, Deputy Director of Health Department of Sulaymaniyah Governorate, told Shafaq News Agency.
"Our current concern is not knowing the reason behind the virus spread again."
The Crisis Cell in Sulaymaniyah Province announced on Sunday the issuance of 22 decisions with the approach of Eid Al Fitr and the registration of new infections with Corona virus, but without a curfew.
The cell informed Shafaq News Agency that it had prepared 22 decisions to confront Corona with the approach of Eid Al Fitr, including "keeping the border points closed and preventing movement through the crossings, but confirmed that the trade exchange will remain, while preventing travel between the provinces, in addition to the continued closure of Sulaimaniyah airport, prevent receiving tourists, as well as prevent visiting cemeteries, hospitals and prisons.
In a matter of fact Sulaymaniyah allowed opening mosques and churches.
On Sunday evening, Sulaymaniyah Province in Kurdistan Region, recorded nine infections with the virus, shortly after the province's health department announced that it recorded zero cases throughout the region within the past 24 hours.
Sulaymaniyah is the first city in Kurdistan Region that recorded the outbreak of the virus since last March.
In total, the whole number of people infected with the newly created virus, COVID-19 in Kurdistan Region, reached 411, of whom 5 people died, while 383 people were fully recovered.
