Shafaq News / The head of the Peshmerga Ministry of Health, Shamal Jabar Yawar, warned on Monday of an eminent "disaster" in the governorate, due to the high rate of Covid-19 cases.

Yawar told Shafaq News agency that infection and fatality rates in Al-Sulaymaniyah are continuously increasing and if this remains the case for the next two days, hospitals will be crowded with Covid-19 patients.

"Today, Al-Sulaymaniyah registered two fatalities, and 93 critical case", he added.

Yawar added that, "Most of the patients suffer from shortness of breath and need oxygen supplements and mechanical ventilation", warning, "we must be cautious to avoid the disaster".

The total number of Covid-19 cases since the beginning of the outbreak in Al-Sulaymaniyah reached 2705, 93 of which passed away and 741 achieved recovery.
