Shafaq News / The Ministry of Interior of Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) announced on Monday the imposition of a complete lockdown throughout the region during Eid Al-Fitr days ("Festival of Breaking Ramdan Fast", explaining that the curfew will start on the first days of the holiday and continue for up to 72 hours.
“According to the letter of the Ministry of Health of KRG on 30 of last April and in order to protect health security in Kurdistan Region, the ministry decided to extend the implementation of the statement until the first day of Eid Al-Fitr (i.e. partial curfew,”. The ministry said in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency.
The ministry also decided to "impose a complete curfew in all provinces of the region and its independent administrations for a period of 72 hours from the first day of Eid al-Fitr," waving sanctions against violators.
"All super markets, bakeries and places that had previously been permitted to serve citizens will be closed for a period of 72 hours from the first day of the holiday, except for sentinel pharmacies."
The ministry indicated that security forces, health teams and ambulances were excluded from the curfew, noting to the travel ban between the region and other Iraqi governorates from May 20, 2020 to June 1, 2020.
The ministry added that the application form for moving between the regions, cities, towns and the province will be completely suspended from May 22 to 27 of the same month.
The Ministry decided to close the border crossings (Bruizkhan, Bashmakh, Haji Omran, Ibrahim Al-Khalil, Saraziri, Siran Bin Kelly, Tawila, Bashtah and Shushmi) and Erbil and Sulaymaniyah international airports for passengers until the first of next June.
The ministry noted to the continuation of the commercial exchange movement in the border crossings and between the governorates and independent departments according to the instructions previously approved.
The Ministry authorized the operating rooms in the governorates and independent departments to take the necessary measures to implement this statement, and it shall enter into force as of midnight 18/5/2020.
