Shafaq News / Three committees in Kurdistan Region Parliament condemned on Saturday the rape of a Kurdish woman with special needs in Kirkuk province.
The committees are: the Kurdish areas outside the administrative borders of the region, the defense of women's rights, and the Social Affairs Committee.
The three committees said in a joint statement today, "Unfortunately ,some people of a militia raped a Kurdish woman with special needs who belongs to a poor family in Berdi security checkpoint."
The committees described the incident as an ugly act, away from the principles of morality and humanity, and constitutes a violation of the rights of the Kurdish individual and a disregard women , as It was practiced under the current military rule imposed on Kirkuk, confirming that such a crime shakes the conscience of all humanity.
The statement called on the Iraqi parliament to open an investigation into the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice, to obtain their fair punishment according to the Iraqi Penal Code.
