Shafaq News / Doctors and health staff in cities of Kurdistan Region began on Monday, organizing a sit-in in protest against the late payment of their monthly dues, which are late for 50 days.
The Iraqi cabinet has previously decided to stop the salaries of Kurdistan Regions’ employees, due to a dispute over oil resources.
"The government has delayed paying our monthly salaries for 50 days as we are facing difficult and dangerous circumstances of Corona “, The sit-in doctors issued a statement received by Shafaq News said.
"We live in difficult economic conditions. The sit-in will take place today in all the halls of hospitals in Sulaymaniyah, if our demands are not met, we will stop working from tomorrow in all emergency hospitals."
For his part, Hajen Othman, Head of Sulaymaniyah Doctors Syndicate informed Shafaq News that , "The sit-in included health workers in Sulaymaniyah, Halabja, and Raparin and Garmiyan administration."
“The slogan of the protesters is no work without payment ,” He added
He said that the regional medical unions will meet tomorrow to issue a unified decision, or await the decision of the regional government.
