Shafaq News/ The head of Kurdistan Regional Government ,Masrour Barzani received in his office, on Wednesday, 23 October 2019, the British Ambassador to Iraq ,John Wilkes on the occasion of ending his duties as the UK ambassador to Iraq.
The meeting, which was attended by British Consul General in Kurdistan Region ,James Thornton, discussed the latest developments in the situation in Iraq and the region in general.
The British Ambassador praised the efforts of the Head of Kurdistan Regional Government, and said: "We are confident that you are leading Kurdistan region forward."
After praising the reform steps taken by KRG, the British Ambassador thanked Kurdistan Region after sheltering refugees with the deteriorating situation in northeastern Syria, where thousands of refuge to Kurdistan region.
The two sides agreed during the meeting on the importance of the international community to take its responsibility to help Kurdistan in this side.
For his part, the Head of Kurdistan Regional Government thanked the British ambassador, and wished him success in any new responsibility he assumes.
The Head of KRG reviewed, the progress of talks with the federal government, and said: "We have made many proposals to resolve the differences, and we expect Baghdad to respond positively to the constitutional demands of Kurdistan region."
The meeting talked about the Syrian file, and the views coincided on the need to calm the situation in the region and reject the demographic change because it will contribute to the aggravation of problems and the situation in the future.
