Shafaq News / The Prime Minister of Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani called on Monday the international coalition to continue supporting Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi army.
This came during a meeting with a German parliamentary delegation composed of the German Government Commissioner for Religious Freedom , Marcus Grupple and the member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Juergen Hardt.
A statement issued by the regional government stated that "during the meeting, the latest developments in Iraq and the region and the relations between Kurdistan Region and Germany were discussed."
Barzani thanked Germany government after its decision to resume training Peshmerga forces, stressing "the importance that the international coalition continues to support Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi army, especially that ISIS is still a latent danger in some areas of Iraq."
This German parliamentary delegation pointed to the status of he Kurdistan Region as an important stabilizing factor for Iraq and the region, and also expressed Germany's readiness to strengthen relations, especially in trade and investment, according to the statement.
On Sunday, German forces in the anti-ISIS coalition in Syria and Iraq led by the United States of America resumed the mission of military exercises for Peshmerga forces in Kurdistan region.
The international coalition had suspended the task of military exercises for Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi army after the killing of the prominent Iranian general, Qassem Soleimani and the deputy head of the Popular Mobilization Forces, Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis in an American strike near Baghdad International Airport.
