Shafaq News / A medical source in Sulaymaniyah Governorate reported on Monday that the health condition of patients infected with Coronavirus (Covid-19) has deteriorated, after the province recorded two deaths and 71 more confirmed cases on Sunday.
“19 people infected with Covid-19 are currently in ASO hospital in Sulaymaniyah city, which deals with Covid-19 treatment and 16 of them are in critical condition under oxygen devices, the source told Shafaq News Agency.
Since the outbreak of the virus last March, 26 patients died in Kurdistan Region, 22 of them from Sulaymaniyah Governorate.
In the recent days, the number of Covid-19 infection cases has surged in Kurdistan Region and Iraq, despite the imposition of a total lockdown during the past and current week.
Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) authorities recorded 86 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, with 71 infections in Sulaimaniyah alone.
A total of 1,310 people have been confirmed as active carriers of the virus across Kurdistan Region. Of this number, 26 have died and 458 have recovered.
