Shafaq News/ The Integrity Commission revealed on Tuesday the issuance of a summon order against the former Minister of Electricity and the member in the Iraqi parliament for the current session, based on the provisions of Article (340) of the Iraqi Penal Code, on the background of the conclusion of contracts with a private plant.
Referring to the details of the case which it had investigated and referred to the judiciary, the Investigations Department of the Authority pointed out that Karkh Investigation Court, which is competent to deal with the integrity issues, issued a summon order against the former Minister of Electricity and the member in the Iraqi parliament for the current session, for causing low level of electricity production during a period of responsibility, due to the stoppage of some turbine units belonging to al-Rumaila gas power station, and his insistence on the conclusion of contracts with a local factory; to manufacture and equip (air filters) for that plant, although not appropriate to the nature of the region.
In June, the Commission announced that it had seized irregularities in the contract of referring the supply of Al-Kahla gas power station in Maysan province with turbine engines valued at $ 22,000,000 million, while in early November it announced the issuance of sixty arrest warrants against local deputies and officials on charges of corruption and damage to public money.
