A member of the political bureau of PUK , Fred Asesrd said in an interview with " Shafaq News " , said that “ his party wants Sulaymaniyah province to managed in a compromise way among all winning blocs in the election in order to provide better services to the people of the province “.
He added that the preliminary results of provincial councils elections in Sulaymaniyah province indicate the victory of Change party and PUK by majority seats in the provincial council and the inability of any party to obtain a quorum for the formation of the provincial council which is, 50 +1.
Asesrd explained that his party’s proposal stipulates solving the problem of the governor position between the two parties to resolve the problem of the Ministry of Interior for the new provincial government between his party and the Democratic Party of Kurdistan through each party held the post of governor for two years for each .
On the other Asesrd talked about the issue of Kurds participation in Iraq's political process and said that the participation of the Kurds in the elections is an evidence on the desire of the Kurds to participate in the next Iraqi government and the continuation of the political process in Iraq .
However, there is a difference in vision among Iraqi political parties as some see these parties need to form a majority government while Kurds see that the government of national partnership is the most suitable in the current circumstances in Iraq .
He conditioned not to have uniqueness of power and not to repeat shortcomings and disadvantages of prior experience and work to resolve the outstanding problems between the province and Baghdad, as well as finding a balanced relationship between the two parties that contribute to the preservation of the constitutional rights of Kurds.
Asesrd added that whether government would be a partnership or a majority government , this government will be a coalition one involving several parties .
However, there is an important issue that has not been resolved among the political parties , which is the Iraqi presidency of the Republic , which wants to keep the Kurds within their share , considering this position as one of their entitlements that should not be bargained .
The elections provincial councils of Kurdistan have been performed in 30 of April in conjunction with the Iraqi parliament election as IHEC didn’t announce the results so far , and may be disclosed next Thursday .
