“Peshmarga forces have contributed in securing the transfer of 1000 displaced families toward safe areas in Nineveh Plain and in Kurdistan,” the source who requested anonymity told “Shafaq News”.
He added that these families have been received in shared Tahrer checkpoint (north of Mosul) only, pointing out that thousands of other displaced families have passed security checkpoints in the west and east of Mosul city.
"Daash" organization has launched a large-scale operation in northern and western neighborhoods of Mosul city since the dawn of last Friday and extended its control over parts of the city after the security forces retreated.
The Iraqi Ministry of Defense said that its troops have cordoned off the neighborhoods controlled by Daash and are waiting for the arrival of troops from fight against terrorism to break into those neighborhoods.
This development comes just days after a similar attack on Samarra city in Salahuddin province .
Thousands of residents of those areas have escaped from the fighting and shelling towards safer areas, particularly Kurdistan region, which includes tens of thousands of Fallujah people, controlled by the militants for months.
