Kurdish lists have gained 62 seats in the Iraqi parliament , thereby increasing its gains of 55 seats in the current parliament , which enhances its position in the negotiations to form a government.
In its first comment on the election results , KDP official site quoted Khosro Goran , a leader and responsible elections of institution in the party, said that the results " betrayed the votes of the party’s electors and it is injustice to them."
Goran added "We are not satisfied from the announced results, we expected to get more seats in Nineveh and Erbil provinces, as we expected to get a seat in Diyala , but this has not been achieved , and we have several observations and have informed specialists to register them in IHEC within the three provinces and recorded complaints there . "
He pointed out that KDP expected to get 28 seats , " but what was announced so far is 25 seats and some seats for supporters and allied with us , such as seat Shabak quota and two seats for the People's Assembly of the Chaldean Syriac Assyrian as they are our allies and with the views and perspectives of KDP. "
" According to the available information to us through counting process in the voting centers , we would have expected to get eight seats in Erbil , but what was announced was less , so we demand to conduct a comparison between the forms that have been counted in Erbil and those sent to Baghdad,” he added.
Kurdistan Democratic Party has won 25 seats , including 8 in Dohuk , 7 in Erbil , 6 in Nineveh , 2 in Sulaymaniyah and 2 in Kirkuk .
