“Wednesday, 30 of April, will witness the first parliamentary elections in Iraq , after the United States withdrew its forces ,” Israeli " Reshet Bet " network said in a report briefed by " Shafaq News “.
According to the network, more than 20 million voters who already have the right to vote will take part in these elections, it is expected for the Prime Minister , Nuri al- Maliki’s party to win in election .
The main focus today is on the fortunes of Iraqi Prime Minister , Nuri al-Maliki to win a third term at the head of the Iraqi government , as he faces stiff competition , particularly by members of the former "National Alliance".
One of his prominent rivals is the " National " list led by former Iraqi Prime Minister , Iyad Allawi and " citizen" (Mwaten ) that fall under the leadership of the Supreme Islamic Council led by " Ammar al-Hakim and " Ahrar " bloc which used to belong to a former religious leader , Moqtada al-Sadr , before announcing his retirement from politics in mid- February, then doubts raised about the extent of his direct support for this bloc .
The elections are being held in Iraq's 18 provinces , including Kurdistan region , in which 9040 candidates, representing all Iraqi provinces and various components of the Iraqi society are participating in it as the electoral process aim today to choose 328 MPs.
