Shafaq News / Diyala Health Department revealed, on Wednesday, the reasons behind the high rate of Covid-19 fatalities, that accounts for more than 5 percent of the total number of cases.

A medical source in the department told Shafaq News agency that, " the crisis cell attributed the high mortality rates to unjustified social considerations that prevented the patients from disclosing their illness, in addition to the high prevalence of comorbidities among them".

The source added that, "quite a few of the deceased were dead upon arriving to the hospital".

It is noteworthy that the total number of Covid-19 cases in Diyala reached 820, including 44 fatalities, 166 recoveries, while 696 patients are still under quarantine.
