While Sacchi didn’t mention the exact number of employees who will be transferred from the embassy in Baghdad, but she reported that a group of them will be transferred to the U.S. consulate in Basra and to the consulate in Erbil. While the other portion will be transferred to the U.S. Embassy in Amman, Jordan, to work on matters related to Iraq.
The United States announced on the same day that the Iraqi authorities announced that its forces had killed 279 insurgents in different parts of the country during the past 24 hours, according to reports from a spokesman for the Office of the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces.
Lt.Gen. Qassim Atta said a news conference in Baghdad, " more than 279 terrorists were killed during the past 24 hours in various areas," adding that the security forces "regained the initiative."
Atta also announced burning of 14 vehicles carrying members of the "Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant organization ", the most prominent armed groups fighting in Syria and Iraq, during the past few hours.
American officials said that the United States is ready to open the channels of communication.
