Abadi wrote on the social networking pages during a meeting with Iranian Energy Minister ,Hamid Jian that "Our policy aims to develop relations with the Islamic Republic in all areas," noting that "our ambition to link the electricity network with neighboring countries."

Abadi said, "Stressed the need to build economic and social network between Iraq and all the region's state building."

Iraqis still complain of frequent outage of electrical power despite the fact that the Ministry of Electricity has pledged to provide electricity service throughout the day in the current year.
